     Wesleyan College

    • 11:1 student to faculty ratio: This means that your average class size at Wesleyan College is 11 students and a lot of the time, even fewer than that. It means one-on-one time with your professor, individualized attention and help from your professor, and meaningful, engaged classroom discussions. And all classes are taught by facult
    • 95% of 2014 undergraduates accepted into their first choice graduate school: 95%! Once you declare a major, you will work with the same advisor throughout your time here. There is no getting to your last semester and going through your degree audit only to find out you are missing one general education class that will keep you from graduating. There is no being turned away from a graduate program because you didn't take the appropriate prerequisites.
    • Study Abroad and International Recognition: Wesleyan offers students the opportunity to study abroad in more than 40 countries and maintains exchange agreements with universities in Korea, Japan, Russia, Ireland and China. In addition, Wesleyan faculty lead special study groups to various countries including Italy, Guatemala and Great Britain. Wesleyan women come from all across the US and more than 20 countries to experience a truly global education. Our Model UN team just won a national competition in Washington, DC! Plus, our new Global Scholars program is proving to be successful in attracting the best and brightest students to Macon, GA!
    • Student Life & Sisterhood: Wesleyan's vibrant 200-acre wooded campus has been host to all kinds of events ranging from the Cherry Blossom Festival finale to WESFest - a music festival sponsored by Student Affairs and held on our quad. We have 5 NCAA Division III sports teams and an IHSA Equestrian team. Our stables currently house about a dozen horses. You can bring your own horse, take riding lessons, or hold a work study job there! And . . . we have more than 20 clubs and organizations that are designed to enhance your college experience. If you don't find a club or organization that suits you, start your own!
    • Internships and Post-graduate Opportunities: Wesleyan College has established relationships with more than 70 organizations that provide internships. Our alumnae are also an excellent resource for students needing internships. Once you become a member of the Wesleyan family, you instantly gain hundreds of connections that could land you a job in places like DC, California or Alaska. With a little "networking help," our students have landed internships at NASA, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Merrill Lynch and the CDC, just to name a few. Get connected now!

What can you do while you are at home during the Covid stay in place orders? Summer 2020

Uncategorized

Seniors:

  • Continue to do your best even if your grade will be pass/fail
  • Take the revamped AP tests
  • Check the colleges for updated information-many of them have extended their deposit date past May 1st.
  • Attend an accepted students virtual open house.
  • Discuss with your parents next steps-most colleges are working with students on deferring their start date.  Make sure to complete any required forms to be considered for this.
  • If you have been wait-listed make sure you have returned documentation to stay on the wait list.  This year the wait list dynamics will be different from any other.  Make sure you commit to one of the schools where you have been fully accepted by May 1st or the new extended deadline.
  • Review your award letters.  Call or email Financial aid with any and all questions.  If your family has suffered a sudden financial change communicate that to the Financial Aid office.  Don’t wait on this!
  • Last but not least….enjoy the gift of time with your family.

Juniors:

  • Don’t panic about the ACT and SAT cancellations.  There will be additional opportunities.  Refer to the College Board and ACT sites for updates.  We still encourage you to take each test even though many schools are going test optional.
  • Participate in virtual visits to colleges.
  • Be creative while you are at home….read, check on shut-ins, help tutor your siblings or other kids virtually.
  • Continue to do your best…even with pass/fail courses.
  • Start your essays. You have a lot to write about.
  • Enjoy this gift of time with your family.
  • Everyone is in this together!
