HOPE Scholarship / Zell Miller Scholarship

Uncategorized

As seniors begin to make college decisions, here is a reminder about the HOPE / Zell Miller Scholarship.  The Zell Miller Scholarship pays the full amount of tuition for GA Public Colleges while the HOPE Scholarship pays a percentage of tuition for GA Public Colleges.  This year the HOPE paid approximately 89 % of tuition; however, this percentage can change each year.  To qualify for the Zell Miller, students must graduate from high school with a 3.7 HOPE GPA and a minimum of 1200 SAT score (at one sitting) or 26 ACT composite score.  To qualify for the HOPE Scholarship, students must graduate with a 3.0 HOPE GPA.  In addition to GPA and test score requirements, there are also curriculum requirements.  For more detailed information, go to www.gacollege411.org.

How should I answer disciplinary or legal infractions on my college application?

Uncategorized

Honesty is the best policy with this one!

You should report your suspensions or any legal infractions other than minor traffic accidents.  Often times student can use these incidents as a “defining moment” and actually write about them.  Should you have any questions your guidance counselor can help you.

In many cases the colleges are forgiving again……as long as you are honest.  What you don’t want to happen is for them to find out after the fact and rescind your acceptance and/or scholarship.

For assistance in the college search and selection process, contact the College Resource Center at www.crccolumbusga.com or 706-366-2993.
