Thinking about West Point?

Uncategorized

If you have an interest in West Point, it is best to start your junior year.  In January, the application for the summer academy (SLS) is available for Juniors.  It is a one week introduction to West Point. You will need to have either your PSAT, SAT, or ACT scores to apply.

The application process is time consuming.  In addition to the application there are several other components to include nomination application from Senators and Congressmen.  It is recommended that you contact the four eligible members of Congress/Senate to start the process preferably in the summer before junior year.

It is imperative that the applicant make sure their application is complete-an incomplete file can keep you from being accepted.  Teacher recommendations (3) must be received early so it is advisable to make teacher contact the end of the junior year.

Even though the actual application deadline is in February, your deadline should be October 1st!

Teacher Recommendations

Uncategorized

The teacher recommendation is an important part of the application process…..

We recommend that you ask two teachers who know you well.  You should, out of courtesy, ask them as soon as possible.  They have many other responsibilities and probably have many letters to write so don’t wait until the last minute.

Make sure you give them a copy of your resume and let them know the procedure.

Last but not least…..remember a thank you note speaks volumes!
