1) Attend every class

2) Get to class a few minutes early

3) Sit in the front row

4) Stay actively engaged by taking notes

5) Don’t text or visit social media sites in class

6) Answer the first question you know in every class

7) Edit your papers before you turn them in

8) Do well on exams by studying earnestly

1) Plan for all four years and not just for your Freshman year
2) File the FAFSA – utilize the new IRS interface to make this process easier
3) Be careful about taking out loans – remember that you will have to re-pay them
4) Brain power still pays – institutional merit scholarships do not have to be repaid
5) Think creatively – earn money by working at the college, college credits from AP tests make graduation time shorter, start at a local college and transfer to your dream school after 2 years
